Job Purpose
The Business Development Officer will be responsible for identifying, pursuing, and securing new painting/coating job-work business from automotive OEMs, Tier 1, and Tier 2 customers, in order to improve capacity utilisation and reduce dependence on a single customer. The role will also support growth within the existing customer relationship and work closely with the Director and Business Consultant to execute the company’s business development strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Lead Generation & Market Mapping

Identify prospective customers (Tier 1/Tier 2 automotive component makers, OEMs) requiring outsourced painting/coating job-work within a feasible geographic radius of the plant.

Map competitor paint shops/vendors and benchmark capability, capacity, and pricing.

Build and maintain a database of prospects, decision-makers, and purchase/SQE (Supplier Quality Engineering) contacts.
Inquiry & RFQ Management

Generate and follow up on inquiries (RFQs) for job-work business.

Coordinate with production, quality, and costing to prepare accurate and timely techno-commercial quotations.

Track inquiry-to-order conversion and maintain a live sales pipeline/funnel.
Customer Acquisition & Vendor Empanelment

Support vendor registration/empanelment with new customers, including documentation, plant audits, and sample/PPAP approvals.

Coordinate trial orders and sample approvals with production and quality teams.

Support negotiation of commercial terms (rates, payment terms, volume commitments) under the Director’s guidance.
Existing Customer / Account Management

Support growth of business from the existing customer — additional components, volume, and new part approvals.

Coordinate periodic customer costing vs. actual costing checks and commercial reviews.

Track and help resolve issues affecting the customer relationship (delivery, quality debits, communication gaps).
Capacity & Utilisation Alignment
Reporting & Coordination

Maintain and report on visit plans, sales funnel, and conversion metrics.

Coordinate with MD on target account lists, exhibition/trade show participation, and execution of business development strategy.

Represent the company at industry events, exhibitions, and customer visits.

Education & Experience Requirements

Experience

4–6 years of experience in business development/sales, preferably within automotive components, job-work/ancillary manufacturing, or engineering industries.

Exposure to Tier 1/Tier 2/OEM vendor development and approval processes preferred.

Experience in paint shop, surface finishing, or coating job-work business is an advantage.
